Niramaya is a government health insurance scheme by the National Trust under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment. It provides affordable, accessible health insurance for persons with disabilities (PwDs) covered under the National Trust Act, with no medical tests and coverage for pre-existing conditions.
Annual Coverage Limit: ₹1,00,000 per beneficiary
Premium: ₹250 (BPL) / ₹500 (APL) per year
A. Hospitalization Expenses – Provides financial support for corrective surgeries, medical procedures, and follow-up treatment after discharge, with a coverage limit of up to ₹55,000.
B. Outpatient Department (OPD) Expenses – Covers consultation with doctors, diagnostic tests, medicines, routine health check-ups, and dental care, up to a limit of ₹19,000 per year.
C. Therapies – Includes costs for physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and other necessary rehabilitation services, up to ₹20,000 annually.
D. Alternative Medicine – Supports treatment through systems like Ayurveda, Homeopathy, and Unani, with a maximum limit of ₹4,000.
E. Transportation Allowance – Reimburses travel expenses incurred while visiting hospitals or treatment centers, with a ceiling of ₹2,000 per year.
A. The applicant must be an Indian citizen, except residents of Jammu & Kashmir.
B. The person should have one of the following disabilities as defined under the National Trust Act, 1999:
Autism
Cerebral Palsy
Intellectual Disabilities
Multiple Disabilities
C. The applicant must hold a valid Disability Certificate issued by a competent authority. A UDID card is preferred.
D. There is no age limit to apply under this scheme.
Visit a Registered Organisation (RO) authorized by the National Trust.
Collect and fill out the Niramaya Health Insurance application form.
Attach all the required documents along with the form.
Pay the applicable annual premium (₹250 for BPL or ₹500 for APL).
The RO will submit the completed form and documents to the National Trust for further processing.
A. A valid Disability Certificate (preferably a UDID card, if available)
B. Aadhaar Card or any other valid photo ID proof
C. Address proof such as Aadhaar, ration card, or utility bill
D. Income certificate (mandatory for applicants claiming Below Poverty Line status)
E. A recent passport-size photograph of the beneficiary
F. Payment receipt of the applicable premium (₹250 for BPL / ₹500 for APL)
