District Disability Rehabilitation Centres (DDRCs)

Details

To provide comprehensive and community-based rehabilitation services, including therapy, assistive aids, early identification, and awareness, for persons with benchmark disabilities through district-level centers across India.

Benefits

a. Therapeutic Services:

  1. Physical Therapy for mobility-related issues.

  2. Occupational Therapy for enhancing daily life skills.

  3. Speech Therapy for individuals with communication challenges.

b. Assistive Devices:

  1. Assessment and distribution of aids and appliances through ALIMCO.

c. Identification and Support:

  1. Early identification of disabilities.

  2. Referral services to specialized institutions or hospitals.

d. Awareness & Capacity Building:

  1. Community awareness programs about disability and inclusion.

  2. Support services for family and caregivers.

Eligibility

a. Disability Criteria:

  1. Persons with benchmark disabilities (40% and above) as per RPwD Act, 2016.

b. Age Criteria:

  1. All age groups are eligible depending on the need for assessment, therapy, or rehabilitation.

c. Income Criteria:

  1. No income limit applies for availing DDRC services.

Application Process (Offline)

a. Visit DDRC:

  1. Go to the nearest District Disability Rehabilitation Centre.

  2. Consult the staff for assessment or therapy needs.

b. Service Enrolment:

  1. Submit required documents (UDID, medical reports, etc.).

  2. Undergo evaluation for eligibility and referral to services.

Documents Required

a. Mandatory Documents:

  1. UDID card or disability certificate (≥ 40% disability).

  2. Medical records or therapy prescriptions (if already under care).

b. Optional/Supporting Documents:

  1. Aadhar card or other government ID.

  2. Photographs (for aid/appliance issue or records).

  3. Any doctor’s referrals or previous diagnostic reports.
