Supply of Sarees and Dhoties to Differently Abled Persons

Details

To provide free sarees and dhoties (or equivalent Direct Benefit Transfer) to eligible differently abled persons as a festival-time benefit (e.g., Diwali or Pongal), enhancing their dignity and participation in celebrations.

Benefits

  • Free sarees and dhoties OR

  • Equivalent Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)

This benefit is extended during festivals (Diwali/Pongal) to beneficiaries already availing financial assistance.

Eligibility

 

  • Must have 40% or more disability (Benchmark Disability under RPwD Act, 2016).

  • Must be 18 years or above.

  • Must be a recipient of financial assistance from the Directorate of Social Welfare, Puducherry.

  • Annual income should not exceed ₹75,000/-.

  • Must be a resident/native of Puducherry for at least 5 years.

 

Application Process (Offline)

Step 1: Visit the concerned office (during working hours) and obtain the prescribed application form.

Step 2: Fill the form, attach self-attested copies of required documents, and paste a passport-sized photograph.

Step 3: Submit the application to the relevant office:

  • Puducherry: Deputy Director, Differently Abled Section, Directorate of Social Welfare

  • Karaikal: Assistant Director, Social Welfare Department (Sub Office)

  • Mahe / Yanam: Welfare Officer (i/c), Social Welfare Department (Sub Office)

Step 4: Collect an acknowledgment receipt, if applicable.

Documents Required

 

  • Aadhar Card

  • Ration Card

  • Residence-cum-Nativity Certificate (issued by the competent authority)

  • Recent Passport-Size Photograph

  • Bank Passbook

  • Financial Assistance ID Card

  • Disability Certificate / UDID Card
