Operation of Braille Press

Details

To support the educational needs of visually impaired students in higher education by providing textbooks and study materials in Braille format through a dedicated Braille Press.

Benefits

a. Availability of textbooks and reading material in Braille for visually impaired students
b. Facilitation of reading and writing for students in blind schools and higher education institutions
c. Centralized production of Braille books for various subjects

Eligibility

a. Visually impaired persons with benchmark disability (above 40%) as per RPwD Act, 2016
b. Students studying in higher education institutions in Uttar Pradesh
c. Applicable to all age groups

Application Process (Offline)

a. Visually impaired students may approach their educational institution or the District Empowerment Officer for Persons with Disabilities to request Braille books
b. Coordination with the Braille Press at Student Hostel, Nishatganj, Lucknow may be done through institutional channels

Documents Required

a. UDID Card
b. Proof of enrollment in a higher education institution (may be requested by department)
