This scheme provides standard, durable, and scientifically manufactured aids and appliances to eligible students with disabilities, promoting their physical, social, and psychological rehabilitation.
a. Free or subsidized assistive devices like hearing aids, spectacles, wheelchairs, Braille kits, educational aids, therapy support, etc.
b. Enables improved participation in schooling and development.
a. Disability:
Must have Benchmark Disability (≥40%).
For <40% disability, children can still be eligible if certified jointly by:
(i) School Headmaster/Principal
(ii) Local SSA authority
(iii) RCI-registered Rehab Professional with valid CRR No.
b. Age:
Up to Class XII (generally up to age 20).
1–5 years for cochlear implant (pre-lingual);
6–18 years for cochlear implant (acquired hearing loss).
c. Income:
For 100% subsidy: Family income ≤ ₹22,500/month.
For 50% subsidy: Family income ≤ ₹30,000/month.
d. Must not have received the same assistance in the last 3 years (or 1 year for customized devices in children <18 years).
Devices are provided through camps organized by ALIMCO in collaboration with local Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) authorities, generally at schools.
Disability Certificate or joint certification (for <40% disability cases).
Income certificate of parents/guardians.
Prescription for therapy from a licensed medical practitioner (every 6 months).
Supporting documents/bills from Rehabilitation Professionals.
Proof of school enrolment (as applicable).
