a. This scheme supports the development of barrier-free infrastructure to ensure equal accessibility for persons with disabilities (PwDs).
b. The scheme covers modifications in government buildings, including:

1. Construction of ramps, lifts, and accessible toilets

2. Installation of tactile flooring and handrails

3. Retrofitting to ensure accessible websites and IT systems

4. Other related infrastructure improvements

Benefits

a. Financial assistance is provided by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) to create accessible infrastructure.
b. Helps ensure universal accessibility and inclusion in public spaces.

Eligibility

a. Type of Applicant:

1. Government departments, public agencies, or entities owning the buildings to be modified.

b. Type of Disability:

1. Not applicable – this scheme does not require specific beneficiary disability certification.

c. Income Criteria:

1. No income criteria are applicable.

Application Process (Offline)

Submit a detailed physical proposal with required documents to: Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.

1. Justification for the modifications

2. Building ownership proof

3. Photographs showing current state

4. Detailed cost estimates

5. Architectural or engineering drawings (if applicable)
