Disha is an early intervention and school readiness scheme under the National Trust, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India.
It provides:
Day-care facilities to children with disabilities
Therapies, training, and early stimulation
Support and counseling for parents/guardians
School readiness activities and guidance in ADLs (Activities for Daily Living)
Transportation for eligible children
Assessment and evaluation services
a. 100% funding for BPL children in Disha Centres.
b. Services provided at Registered Organizations (ROs):
Therapeutic support (physiotherapy, speech therapy, etc.)
Education and school readiness training
Family counseling and parental guidance
Transportation support for eligible children
a. Eligibility for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs):
Age: 0 to 10 years
Disability: Must have Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Intellectual Disability, or Multiple Disabilities under National Trust Act, 1999
Disability Certificate: Must have a UDID Card
Must possess an Aadhaar Card
b. Eligibility for Implementing Agency/Registered Organization (RO):
Must be registered with the National Trust
Must have valid registration under the PwD Act 1995 at the time of enrolment
Must have minimum 2 years' experience working with PwDs, with at least 1 year in any of the 4 disabilities under the National Trust Act
Must not be blacklisted by the National Trust or any other Govt. agency
Must be registered on the NGO Darpan Portal of NITI Aayog
Beneficiaries (parents/guardians) must:
Physically visit a registered Disha Centre
Submit the required documents
Secure admission through the Disha Centre directly
a. For Child with Disability (PwD):
Enrolment Form (provided at Disha Centre)
Birth Certificate or any valid Date of Birth proof
UDID Card
b. For Parent/Guardian:
BPL Certificate (for full subsidy) or Income Certificate (for LIG category)
ID Proof (e.g., Aadhaar, Voter ID)
Local Residence Proof (mandatory if availing transportation facility)
