National Institutes (NIs) are autonomous bodies established under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. These NIs focus on specific types of disabilities (e.g., visual, hearing, locomotor, intellectual, multiple disabilities, etc.). They offer:
Skill development and vocational training
Academic and professional courses
Rehabilitation services
Counselling and early intervention
Research and development in the disability sector
a. Access to specialized skill development and vocational training programs.
b. Provision of rehabilitation services, assistive devices, therapy, and career guidance.
c. Opportunity to pursue diploma, certificate, and degree courses in disability-related fields.
d. Promotion of self-reliance, employment, and empowerment of persons with disabilities (PwDs).
a. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities as defined under the RPwD Act, 2016 (i.e., disability of 40% or more).
b. Open to individuals of any age group.
