Revised Education Scheme for Children of Artisans/Weavers of Handicrafts and Handloom

Details

To provide financial assistance in the form of scholarships to the children (including those with benchmark disabilities) of registered artisans and weavers in Jammu & Kashmir.

Benefits

A. Scholarship for maximum two children per registered Artisan/Weaver family.
B. Scholarship amounts:

  1. ₹1500 per annum for Primary Classes (up to Class 5)

  2. ₹2000 per annum for Classes 6th to 10th

  3. ₹3000 per annum for Classes 11th and 12th

  4. Full course fee (as per Govt. norms) for Professional/Technical Courses
    C. Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the student's bank account

Eligibility

A. The applicant must be a child of a registered Artisan/Weaver in the Handicrafts/Handloom Department of J&K.
B. The total annual family income should not exceed ₹90,000.
C. The student must not have availed benefits under:

  1. Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme

  2. Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme

  3. Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme

  4. Any other similar educational scheme
    D. Must obtain No Objection Certificates from:

  5. Concerned Zonal Education Officer (ZEO)

  6. Tehsil Social Welfare Officer (TSWO)

Application Process (Offline)

A. Applications invited by Assistant Director, Handicrafts/Handloom Department
B. Public notification is issued via:

  1. Local newspapers

  2. Electronic media
    C. Selection made by field officials after:

  3. Verification of documents

  4. Validation of eligibility
    D. Processed within the financial year based on fund availability

Documents Required

A. For the applicant (student):

  1. Aadhar card

  2. UDID card (if applicable)

  3. Proof of educational qualification/enrollment

  4. Bank account details

  5. Domicile certificate

B. For the parent (Artisan/Weaver):

  1. Valid registration card/certificate from Handicrafts/Handloom Dept.

C. For income verification (any one):

  1. BPL / PHH / AAY ration card

  2. EWS certificate

  3. Income certificate from 1st Class Magistrate / Tehsildar

D. Others:

  1. No Objection Certificate (ZEO & TSWO)
